A Language Line Solutions job typically involves providing interpretation or translation services for individuals with limited English proficiency. Employees work as interpreters or translators in various industries, such as healthcare, legal, and customer service, facilitating communication between clients and service providers. Most positions are remote and require fluency in at least two languages. Interpreters handle live phone or video calls, while translators focus on written documents. Strong language skills and cultural awareness are essential for success in these roles.

What does a typical work day look like at Language Line Solutions?

A typical day at Language Line Solutions involves handling a variety of interpretation or translation assignments, often connecting with clients over the phone or via video platforms. You'll be part of a supportive remote team environment where tasks may include real-time conversations in healthcare, legal, or customer service settings. Many interpreters enjoy flexible scheduling, though the role often requires adapting quickly to new topics and maintaining confidentiality. The work can be fast-paced, providing opportunities to continually develop your linguistic and cultural expertise. You’ll collaborate with coordinators and fellow interpreters to ensure client needs are met professionally and efficiently.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Language Line Solutions position, and why are they important?

To thrive at Language Line Solutions as a language interpreter or translator, you need fluency in at least two languages, strong listening and communication skills, and a thorough understanding of cultural nuances. Familiarity with phone and video interpreting platforms, customer service software, and relevant certifications such as CMI or ATA are typically beneficial. Exceptional interpersonal skills, patience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure help you stand out in challenging, real-time interpreting scenarios. These competencies are crucial for accurately conveying meaning while supporting effective communication between individuals who speak different languages.

Job description

Job Description
Job Description

Boeckeler Instruments is hiring a hands-on Quality Control Specialist to perform initial and final QC testing on our precision sample-preparation instruments before they ship to customers worldwide. This is an individual-contributor role, not a supervisory or management position: you will work directly with the instruments on the bench, verify they meet written specifications, and document what you find clearly enough that Engineering and Production can act on it.

We are specifically looking for someone who digs into why a test failed, not just whether it passed, and who will speak up and propose a better way when the current process isn't working.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform initial QC testing on in-process components and final QC testing on finished instruments before they ship, verifying performance against written specifications and procedures
  • Read and interpret test results and clearly document pass/fail outcomes using our digital QC platform
  • When a test fails, investigate the root cause rather than simply logging the failure, and document findings so Engineering and Production can act on them
  • Communicate test results and quality issues clearly and promptly, in writing and verbally, to Engineering, Production, and Applications teams
  • Act as a clear, plain-language bridge between Engineering and Production, translating technical findings and quality issues so both sides can act on them
  • Identify and propose improvements to QC test procedures, documentation, and data collection
  • Complete all quality control paperwork and records accurately and on time
  • Occasional travel for audits, escalations, or customer site visits — not a regular part of this role
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Requirements — you must meet all of the following to be considered

  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in quality control, technical service, or operating laboratory, analytical, or electro-mechanical equipment. Resumes without this will not be considered.
  • Able to describe a specific example of identifying the root cause of a recurring technical or quality problem, and what you did about it (see How to Apply below)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; this role requires clear, regular written reporting to other teams
  • Currently reside within commuting distance of Tucson, AZ. We are not offering relocation assistance for this role.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office suite
  • Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
  • Valid driver's license
  • Associate's degree in a technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience

Preferred (a plus, not required)

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline (mechanical, industrial, or related). This role regularly bridges Engineering and Production, so candidates who can speak both languages are especially valuable.
  • Experience with microscopy sample preparation, such as ultramicrotomy or microtomy, or with electron/atomic force microscope equipment
  • Experience with digital QC or inspection platforms, or process/data tools such as SharePoint or Microsoft Forms
