Language Laboratory Technician Jobs (NOW HIRING)

About the Role 

The Laboratory Technician supports daily laboratory operations within a healthcare setting. This position performs high-complexity molecular testing, processes patient specimens, operates laboratory equipment, completes quality control activities, and maintains accurate laboratory records.

The Laboratory Technician works closely with laboratory and clinical team members to ensure testing is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with established procedures and applicable CLIA and OSHA requirements.

The ideal candidate is precise, organized, and comfortable performing detailed technical work. This role requires strong laboratory skills, careful documentation, sound judgment, and a commitment to producing accurate and reliable patient results.

What You’ll Do

• Perform high-complexity PCR testing and process patient specimens according to established laboratory procedures.
• Prepare reagents, calibrators, controls, and other materials needed for testing.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain PCR analyzers, automated extraction systems, and other laboratory equipment.
• Complete quality control, quality assurance, proficiency testing, and competency-assessment activities.
• Review quality control results, identify testing concerns, and complete or escalate corrective action when needed.
• Record testing data, patient results, equipment maintenance, and corrective actions accurately in the Laboratory Information Management System.
• Maintain reagent and supply inventory, including lot-number tracking, storage, and dates placed into service.
• Follow established procedures for biosafety, contamination control, specimen handling, documentation, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance.

What You’ll Bring

Required Qualifications

• Must meet the current CLIA education and training requirements for personnel performing high-complexity testing under 42 CFR § 493.1489. Qualifying pathways may include an applicable laboratory science or medical laboratory technology degree, qualifying college science coursework and documented laboratory training, military laboratory training, or another pathway recognized under CLIA.
• Strong understanding of pipetting techniques, aseptic handling, and contamination control.
• Ability to follow written laboratory procedures and regulatory requirements accurately.
• Ability to maintain complete and accurate testing, quality control, and equipment-maintenance records.
• Ability to identify issues that could affect test performance or result reporting and take appropriate action.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with laboratory and clinical team members.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in laboratory science, medical technology, molecular biology, microbiology, chemistry, or a related field.
• Experience working in a high-complexity CLIA-certified laboratory.
• Experience performing molecular diagnostic or PCR testing.
• Experience using a Laboratory Information Management System.
• Experience troubleshooting PCR instrumentation or automated extraction systems.
• Experience participating in quality control, proficiency testing, or laboratory competency assessments.
