Job description

The Language Consultant in Arabic works half their hours as a Language Mentor in Arabic providing language support to students during office hours and the remainder at the front desk as a receptionist.

Pay rate: $9.70/hr

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

Language Mentors responsibilities:

  • Provide language learning support in all 4 skills: Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking to students during office hours (one-on-one meetings); Review materials, practice speaking, reinforce grammar rules, guide students to self-correct written assignments etc.

  • Record students attendance in provided Google form.

Front desk responsibilities:

  • Sign users in using Google form

  • Hand out and keep track of material

  • Set up the Lab for incoming classes and lab sessions

  • Photocopy/Scan documents

  • Research the web for information

  • Create simple documents

  • Answer questions and provide assistance to students and faculty

  • Prepare simple tutorials on how to do things in the center

  • Type or read information in a foreign language if applicable

  • *We provide training on all special tasks mentioned above*

Qualifications:

  • This position requires native or advanced proficiency (and good grammar skills) in Arabic. Knowledge of Google Docs and Google Calendar preferred

  • Willingness to learn how to perform the aforementioned tasks

  • Ability to maintain confidential information
