About the Role:

Proyecto Salud Clinic located in Silver Spring, MD is looking for a motivated and compassionate Medical Administrative Assistant / Front Desk Staff to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be the welcoming face of our organization while playing a vital role in keeping our medical office running smoothly. Responsibilities:

Greet and check in patients at the front desk, ensuring a welcoming and professional experience

Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments using medical scheduling software

Verify patient insurance eligibility and process billing and co-pays

Ensures patients' fees are collected according to sliding fee scale and accounting policies

Maintain and update accurate patient records in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system

Answer and route incoming calls, respond to patient inquiries, and relay messages to clinical staff

Coordinate referrals, authorizations, and follow-up appointments as needed

Explains policies, procedures and services available to patients.

Ensure front desk area is organized, stocked, and HIPAA-compliant at all times

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Fully bilingual in English and Spanish.

1+ years of experience in a medical office, healthcare, or administrative support role

1+ years of experience in Customer Service

Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems and medical scheduling software

Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification, and billing processes

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-first attitude

Ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain calm in a busy front desk environment

Ability to maintain confidential information.

High school diploma or equivalent required; medical administrative certification a plus

Medical Assistant certificate a plus.
