Job description

Primary Purpose:
Teach English to Adult Speakers of Other Languages

Classes take place in the evenings from 6-9pm on weekdays.

Openings in Franklin, Sylva, and Bryson City
3-6 hours/week.
$19.19 hourly

Essential Responsibilities:
Enjoy working with adult learners and understand the different teaching principles needed to engage adults in the learning process. Familiar with preparing and teaching assigned courses in accordance with course outlines and published course schedule.
• Maintain accurate records for each course taught.
• Help students of different proficiencies improve reading, writing, speaking, and understanding of the English Language
• Include Civics, English Literacy, and Life Skills components in each lecture
• Assist in student retention and intake of students
• Submit all college class reports in an accurate timely fashion.
• Attend instructor and departmental meetings as scheduled.
• Attend professional development events and maintain professional competence.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and others.

Education:
Required:  Bachelor's Degree 
Preferred: TESOL Certificate or teaching experience in the area of ESL or a foreign language.

Knowledge and Skills:
Ability to use computers and software to support instruction and troubleshoot problems with equipment and software when necessary.

Licensing Requirement:
Valid NC Driver's License
