DESCRIPTION Lane County Sheriff's Office Our Mission: To Conserve the Peace Our Service Priorities: Safety; Courtesy; Professionalism Our Values: Committed to Justice & Integrity; Sworn to Protect Lane County; Honored to Serve About the Position The Lane County Sheriff's Office is looking for DPSST Patrol Certified law enforcement officers who are interested in an exciting opportunity to join our team. THE STEPS FOR THIS RECRUITMENT WILL BE STREAMLINED FROM OUR USUAL PROCESS. The Lane County Sheriff's Office has a strong family oriented culture employing dedicated and highly motivated deputies who provide police services in a beautiful county encompassing 4,700 square miles.

This posting is open to currently certified applicants who will have at least two years of law enforcement patrol experience at time of hire. Additionally, we offer: Pay commensurate with experience. 80-hour vacation/leave (PTO) bank at hire, additional 80-hour vacation/leave (PTO) bank at one year.

Take home vehicle. DPSST certification pay 3% intermediate, 3% advanced, if qualified. Bilingual pay available if qualified after assessment.

Abbreviated Academy for out of state applicants. Longevity incentive 2.5% at ten years, additional 2.5% every fifth year after. Other assignment specific incentives available

About the process: Streamlined process No ORPAT or POST Open until filled Command oral board scheduled around your schedule Modified background Psychological evaluation - required by DPSST Medical evaluation - required by DPSST About the Division The Sheriff's Office, committed to justice and integrity, is sworn to protect and honored to serve the residents and visitors of Lane County. Deputies in our Police Services Division provide patrol of urban, suburban and rural areas, including timberlands, waterways, and coastal dune areas.

Special assignments include dunes patrol, timber patrol, marine patrol, contract cities, criminal patrol/investigations, detectives. Schedule: Must be available to work all days and shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays. Overtime may be required.

*This is an LCPOA union represented position* QUALIFICATIONS Training and Experience: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Two years of experience dealing with the public. An equivalent combination of experience and training that will demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

Licensing Requirements: Possession of a current Oregon driver's license at the time of appointment. Possession of a basic certification in corrections and as a peace officer with the State of Oregon at the time of appointment or the ability to successfully apply for such certification. Employment for Deputy Sheriff is contingent upon successful completion of: Pre-Employment Background Check.

Interview: All eligible candidates will be contacted by phone to schedule a date and time for an interview. You must pass the interview in order to continue in the hiring process. Background Investigation: A thorough background investigation will be conducted including a psychological examination, an evaluation with a psychologist, and a medical examination with a drug screen and TB test.

Lane County Sheriff's Office Minimum Standards and Disqualifying Factors Any applicant who is disqualified during our background process will not be considered for any position within the Lane County Sheriff's Office for a period of two years from the disqualification date. Rejection for employment with our department does not preclude an applicant from applying for another position of employment with Lane County.
