Job description

About the Role
The Cloud Solutions Architect will provide technical leadership for the modernization, migration, integration, and ongoing support of a Federal enterprise application portfolio. The Architect will serve as the technical lead responsible for planning and executing cloud migration initiatives, modernizing legacy applications, designing Azure-based enterprise architectures, and guiding engineering teams supporting mission-critical Microsoft technologies.
This position requires regular on-site support and close collaboration with Government leadership, project managers, cybersecurity personnel, and application development teams.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • 12+ years of enterprise IT architecture, systems engineering, or application modernization experience.
    • Formal Education (Associates, Bachelors, Masters, PhD) may be used to offset experience requirement
  • 7+ years architecting Microsoft Azure enterprise solutions.
  • 5+ years leading enterprise application modernization initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience leading AWS-to-Azure cloud migrations.
  • Experience designing solutions within Microsoft Azure Government (Azure GCC or GCC High preferred).
  • Experience leading Agile software development teams supporting enterprise applications.
  • Experience supporting Federal Government environments.
  • Experience briefing executive leadership and technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to support incident resolution and service restoration activities
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
  • Familiarity with enterprise modernization and integration initiatives
  • Experience working with cross-functional technical and business teams
  • Experience supporting vendor coordination and escalation activities
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance

Responsibilities
The Architect shall:
  • Lead the technical planning and execution of enterprise cloud modernization initiatives.
  • Serve as the technical lead for AWS-to-Azure migration activities.
  • Design Azure cloud architectures supporting mission-critical applications.
  • Develop modernization roadmaps for legacy applications.
  • Lead architecture reviews and technical design sessions.
  • Guide Azure engineers, software developers, and DevOps engineers.
  • Develop migration strategies, cutover plans, and rollback procedures.
  • Ensure solutions comply with Government security, accessibility (Section 508), and records management requirements.
  • Review application designs for scalability, maintainability, and security.
  • Support project planning, risk management, and technical decision making.
  • Produce architecture documentation, technical diagrams, and implementation guidance.
  • Participate in customer meetings with the CIO, COR, and Project Manager.
  • Support proposal development and technical planning for modernization initiatives.
