Job description

The Landscape Maintenance Crew Leader is responsible for leading and working alongside a landscape maintenance team to ensure the successful completion of landscape services at commercial and residential properties. This role oversees daily crew operations, maintains quality standards, promotes safety, and ensures client properties are maintained in a professional and efficient manner.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise a landscape maintenance crew in the performance of daily landscaping tasks.
  • Oversee mowing, edging, trimming, pruning, mulching, weeding, planting, and seasonal cleanup activities.
  • Ensure work is completed according to company quality standards and client expectations.
  • Train and mentor crew members on proper landscaping techniques, equipment operation, and safety procedures.
  • Assign daily tasks and monitor crew productivity to ensure efficient operations.
  • Operate and maintain landscaping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, blowers, hedge trimmers, and other tools.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and report maintenance or repair needs.
  • Communicate with supervisors regarding project progress, site conditions, customer concerns, and staffing needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of labor, materials, equipment usage, and completed work.
  • Ensure all company and OSHA safety policies are followed.
  • Assist with snow removal and other seasonal services as required.
  • Foster a positive team environment and promote professionalism on all job sites.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of landscape maintenance experience.
  • Prior crew leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of landscape maintenance practices, plant care, turf management, and seasonal landscaping services.
  • Experience operating commercial landscaping equipment and vehicles.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL a plus.
  • Ability to read and follow work orders, schedules, and property maps.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience leading commercial landscape maintenance crews.
  • Knowledge of irrigation systems and basic troubleshooting.
  • Ability to identify common plant, turf, and pest issues.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
  • DOT Medical Card and/or CDL preferred.
  • OSHA 10/30 certification preferred, or willingness to obtain.
