Job description

Job Summary
The Labor Ground Maintenance position maintains grounds of industrial, commercial, or public property. The grounds maintenance laborer is responsible for building and maintaining gardens, HOA properties, property buildings, and other outdoor landscapes. Ensure plant growth, the cleanliness of outdoor facilities and pruning of overgrown hedges. Additionally, the landscaper maintenances repairs and equipment, landscape structures.
Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Cuts lawn; trims and edges around walks, flower beds, and walls.
  • Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth or remove damaged leaves, branches, or twigs.
  • Sprays lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer, herbicides, and insecticides.
  • Rakes and bags or burn leaves.
  • Cleans grounds and removes litter and cleans out drainage ditches and culverts.
  • Shovels snow from walks and driveways.
  • Spreads salt on public passageways to prevent ice buildup.
  • Plants grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs.
  • Waters lawn and shrubs.
  • Repairs fences, gates, walls, and walks.
  • Paints fences and outbuildings.
  • Sharpens tools such as weed cutters, edging tools, and shears.
  • Makes minor repairs on equipment such as lawn mower, spreader, and snow removal equipment.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
  • Must have a high school diploma (or GED) one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have experience working in the commercial landscape maintenance industry.
  • Must have valid Driver License.
  • Must be able to pass a background check to be able to access the base.
