We are seeking a driven, customer-focused Sales Consultant to join our growing, employee-owned green industry team. This is a full-service sales position responsible for helping prospective and existing clients improve and maintain their outdoor environments through both landscape projects and recurring services.
The services you will be expected to sell include:
  • Design/Build Landscape Projects
  • Fertilizer Programs
  • Pest Programs
  • Pruning and Plant Health Care (PHC)

You will serve as a trusted advisor by identifying client needs, providing professional recommendations, and developing tailored solutions from our complete service portfolio. This position directly impacts revenue growth and our brand reputation by building strong relationships, generating new business, expanding services with existing clients, and delivering an exceptional client experience.
What You Will Do
Client Engagement and Sales
  • Prospect and qualify new clients through face-to-face interactions, networking, community involvement, referrals, and other business-development activities.
  • Respond to company-generated leads and conduct thorough property and needs assessments with prospective and existing clients.
  • Identify opportunities for both one-time landscape projects and recurring lawn, pest, pruning, and plant health care services.
  • Present and clearly explain recommended services, advantages, and benefits based on each client's property, priorities, and goals.
  • Prepare and follow up on proposals in a timely and professional manner.
  • Cross-sell services across RYAN's full portfolio to provide comprehensive solutions for clients.
  • Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals.

Customer Relationship Management
  • Build trust-based, long-term relationships with prospective and existing clients.
  • Maintain consistent communication throughout the sales and service process.
  • Follow up after services and projects to ensure satisfaction, address questions, and identify additional sales opportunities.
  • Manage client inquiries, concerns, and feedback with timely, professional, and solutions-focused communication.
  • Maintain accurate lead, proposal, follow-up, and sales activity information in the company's CRM system.

Requirements
What You Will Bring
  • Three or more years of experience in sales consulting or another customer-facing sales role; green industry experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to build trust and influence purchasing decisions.
  • An understanding of sales principles, lead management, relationship building, and customer-service best practices.
  • The ability to understand a client's complete property needs and recommend services across multiple departments.
  • A motivated, competitive, and goal-oriented mindset with a strong desire to grow your earnings.
  • Proficiency with CRM software.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Experience
  • A degree in landscape architecture, landscape design, horticulture, or a related field.
  • Experience in landscaping, lawn care, pest management, plant health care, arboriculture, agriculture, horticulture, or a related service industry.
  • Experience selling recurring service programs in addition to project-based work.

Ideal Candidate Profile
You thrive in outdoor environments, enjoy meeting new people, and take pride in helping clients create and maintain beautiful, healthy properties. You are comfortable selling both larger landscape projects and recurring services, and you understand the value of building long-term client relationships.
You are motivated by uncapped earning potential, appreciate autonomy in your work, and value contributing to a team committed to world-class customer care.
We hire outstanding people to join our 100% employee-owned ESOP company. You will become a partner in one of the highest-quality lawn and tree companies in the Midwest.
Why work at Ryan?
In addition to being a non-smoking, EEOC-compliant company with real advancement opportunities, we offer:
  • Base salary starting at $60,000 annually depending on experience, plus bonus opportunities
  • Excellent benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 100% Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Uniforms provided
  • 11 paid holidays plus 1 floating personal holiday
  • 17 Paid Time Off (PTO) Days
