Job description

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of workers engaged in landscaping or ground maintenance activities. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Directs activities of workers who perform duties such as mowing turf, mulching, weed, trash removal, tree/shrub installation and pruning.
  • Monitors project activities to ensure that instructions are followed, deadlines are met, and schedules are maintained.
  • Manages inventory of tools, equipment, or materials to ensure that sufficient supplies are available.
  • Ensures all equipment is maintained and in usable condition.
  • Trains, motivates, develops, and directs team as they work.
  • Evaluates each team member to provide career development feedback.
  • Monitors/assesses performance of others and/or organization to make improvements or takes corrective action.
  • Transports crew members to different job sites in assigned vehicles.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certificates, licenses and registrations required:
    • Valid State of Illinois drivers' license.
  • Other skills required:
    • 3 years' experience in Landscaping. (preferred)
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Monitoring of team members to ensure work quality.
    • Ability to maintain composure in difficult and complex situations.
    • Manage one's own time and the time of others.
    • Observe safety and security procedures.
    • Use equipment and materials properly (i.e., lawn mowers, cutting tools, chain saw).
    • Saturday work hours may be required.
