Job description

Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is one of the largest privately-held architecture and engineering firms in the Southeast.

GMC is seeking a Senior Construction Materials Testing Technician for our Huntsville, AL office. This is an opportunity to utilize experience within the engineering industry.

Essential functions and responsibilities include:

  • Performing site observations of earthwork, utility backfill, excavations, foundation construction in addition to construction material testing and special inspections
  • Collecting samples and performing tests to monitor compliance with construction specifications
  • Traveling to job sites using company vehicles and interacting with Design Team, Building Officials, Contractors, and Clients
  • Documenting inspections and testing activities electronically through an online database including testing logs, work items, and picture records
  • Coordinating with Project Managers providing constant communication when on site
  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment and vehicles in proper working order
  • Performing other tasks directed by supervisor not specifically mentioned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience
  • ACI field concrete testing
  • At least 2 ICC Certifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent education
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Clear Driving Record

Addition Qualifications a Plus:

  • Radiation safety certification
  • Construction Experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
