Job description


What We're Looking For:
Michael Baker International is seeking an experienced Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to lead and oversee a variety of land surveying projects supporting transportation, infrastructure, aviation, utility, and land development initiatives. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing survey operations, ensuring quality deliverables, and providing technical expertise for boundary, topographic, right-of-way, ALTA/NSPS, construction, and mapping surveys.
What You'll Do:
  • Manage and oversee surveying projects from proposal through final deliverables.
  • Serve as the Surveyor of Record and provide professional oversight for surveying services in accordance with state regulations.
  • Review and certify boundary surveys, topographic surveys, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, right-of-way surveys, easement exhibits, plats, maps, and legal descriptions.
  • Coordinate survey activities with project managers, engineers, clients, regulatory agencies, and utility providers.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable state surveying laws, standards, and client requirements.
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control reviews of survey data, calculations, plats, and final deliverables.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and client relationships to ensure successful project delivery.

What You Need to Succeed:
  • Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Active Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in Texas
  • 6+ years of progressively responsible surveying experience
  • Experience with boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, right-of-way, construction, and control surveys.
  • Proficiency with survey software such as Civil 3D, MicroStation, Trimble Business Center, Carlson, or related platforms.
  • Strong understanding of legal descriptions, easements, plats, deed research, and land records.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and client relationship management skills.

Compensation:
The approximate compensation range for this position is $72,915 - $95,764. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
