Job description

The Information Technology Agency (ITA), Applications Bureau is seeking to fill one (1) Database Architect vacancy through transfer. The position is assigned to the DBA Support Section. The position is involved in developing Google Looker dashboard and providing primary support for SQL Servers, and secondary support for AWS RDS PostgreSQL and Oracle databases.
The Database Architect responsibilities and requirements include:
  • Develop and support dashboards using Google Looker for Myla311 historical and HRP historical data.
  • Provide primary support for 25 production and 26 non-production SQL Server databases and replicas.
  • Provide secondary support 4 production AWS RDS databases and 3 Oracle databases.
  • Utilize SWL Server Management Studio, Oracle tools and pgAdmin for administration and tuning of the databases.
  • Support the installation, configuration and operation of the database-related application software in WINDOWS environments such as Cold Fusion, JBoss, PDI/ETL Scripts and others,
  • Monitor the performance and availability of the multiple databases.
  • Develop, implement and maintain database backup and recovery procedures.
  • Perform comparative database configuration analysis and long-range hardware and software planning for present and future platforms.
  • Review, recommend and implement database-related hardware and software upgrades and updates.
  • Prepare reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations and conclusions.
  • Develop detailed database documentation and train other staff. Provide 24-7 on call support and back-up. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
  • Position has extensive contact with the management and functional teams of ITA, Controller, Office of Finance and General Services, City Contractors and vendors.
