Scientific Business Analyst

Location: Tarrytown, NY

Duration: Contract

Pay Rate: $90-$105 per hour

Schedule: Onsite minimum of 4 days per week

Position Summary

We are currently seeking a motivated and skilled Scientific Business Analyst to join our client's team in Tarrytown, NY. Our client is a leading firm in the biopharmaceutical industry. The Scientific Business Analyst partners with Formulation Development scientists, Pharmaceutical Development, and Research IT to analyze business processes, gather requirements, and implement technology solutions that support drug product formulation and laboratory operations. This role serves as the liaison between scientific stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring laboratory systems and digital solutions align with research objectives, regulatory requirements, and business needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with Formulation Development scientists and Research IT to elicit, analyze, and document business, functional, and technical requirements.
  • Support scientific applications including LabWare LIMS, Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN), and other laboratory informatics platforms used within Formulation Development.
  • Analyze laboratory workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, data integrity, and scientific processes.
  • Translate business requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications using Jira within an Agile environment.
  • Develop workflow diagrams, process maps, and solution documentation using Lucidchart (Lucid).
  • Lead cross-functional workshops with scientists, laboratory managers, quality, validation, and IT teams to define future-state processes.
  • Support system implementations, upgrades, integrations, testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and production deployments.
  • Drive change management activities, including stakeholder communication, training, and adoption of new Research IT solutions.
  • Collaborate with developers, QA, validation, and infrastructure teams to ensure technology solutions meet scientific and business objectives.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and recommendations to leadership and key stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of Scientific Business Analysis experience supporting pharmaceutical research or Formulation Development organizations.
  • Experience supporting laboratory informatics platforms including LabWare, LIMS, ELN, or comparable laboratory systems.
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical formulation development workflows, laboratory operations, and scientific data management.
  • Experience working in Agile software development environments using Jira.
  • Proficiency developing process maps and workflow documentation using Lucidchart (Lucid).
  • Demonstrated experience leading change management initiatives for Research IT systems and scientific applications.
  • Strong leadership, facilitation, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with scientists, laboratory personnel, and technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Drug Product Development, Formulation Development, Analytical Development, or Pharmaceutical Sciences organizations.
  • Knowledge of GxP, FDA, and laboratory compliance requirements.
  • Experience with SDLC methodologies, validation documentation, and regulated laboratory environments.
  • Familiarity with SQL, data visualization, or scientific reporting tools.
  • Experience supporting digital transformation initiatives within pharmaceutical R&D.
