Job description

McElroy is looking for a Test Engineer with knowledge and experience to develop test plans, procedures, and methods for complex machines. The successful test engineer will be collaborative in work style with the ability to work with a variety of departments. This position creates and executes test procedures to verify that the product's mechanical, electrical power, hydraulic, and control systems meet specifications while analyzing and presenting test results and data to the design teams to ensure the verification and validation of all product requirements.
Responsibilities
  • Evaluate test methods and equipment for the simulation of various mechanical and environmental conditions.
  • Generate test plans, procedures, and work instructions from product specifications.
  • Execute and conduct environmental and mechanical tests in accordance with test requirements and developed procedures.
  • Setup, configure, and operate test setups, fixtures, and instrumentation as required by test plans, test standards, and other instructions.
  • Implement and deploy test fixtures, testing apparatus and machines and verify their appropriateness.
  • Ensure the accuracy and consistency of data through thorough documentation processes.
  • Analyze and present test results and data to the design team and work with the team to resolve issues found during testing.
  • Source, obtain quotations, and select required lab supplies and materials to build test fixtures to conduct tests.
  • Design and assemble test fixtures per test plan, and applicable test standards.
  • Validate test methods.
  • Analyze and test new or revised designs to ensure the product is efficient and safe.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering required.
  • Professional Engineer license preferred.
  • 3-5 years of work experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge of machines, mechanisms, materials, electrical power, general physics, control systems and hydraulics
  • Knowledge of setting up and running data acquisition systems, similar to Labview and Somat/Catman
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and implement industry standard test methodologies
  • Ability to read blueprints, diagrams, drawings, and sketches is essential.
  • Intermediate skill level in SolidWorks preferred.
  • Collaborating with all stakeholders of a project: from assembly technicians to engineers to purchasing agents.

Must be able to routinely work between office and shop environment. Balance of work day may require bending, squatting, and climbing, while working on large scale products. Some domestic travel required. Mobility required between multi building complex covering several acres.
