Mechanical Labourers with Cando are responsible for performing safe and efficient work while assisting the mechanics in their daily tasks. Working in a customer-oriented environment, the Mechanical Labourer must work well in teams to maximize efficiency while demonstrating a strong initiative and safety focus..

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Conduct and participate in clear and concise job briefings.
  • Assist the mechanical group on maintenance and repairs.
  • Working alongside Vac-truck operator when extra help is needed.
  • Operate equipment such as service truck, telehandler, etc. according to the safety rules and regulations of Cando and its customer.
  • Maintain inventory by identifying, labelling, and placing supplies in stock and recording locations of inventory.
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety Programs; conduct job hazard analysis, report unsafe working conditions, and ensure they are repaired immediately.
  • Contribute to team effort by assisting other team members in all functions of the job; take direction from Supervisor
  • Work and operate equipment according to customer and Cando’s safety rules and regulations.
  • Ensure the site is clean, tidy, organized, and a safe workplace at all times

Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities

  • Prioritize and perform multiple tasks with the ability to meet daily demands and function in busy situations.
  • Comfortable working on and around heavy equipment
  • Ability to operate and perform daily maintenance checks on required machinery, including the ability to change clamps and exchange propane cylinders.
  • Medically fit to work in a safety sensitive environment; physically fit including the ability to pull self up and down from forklift, genie lift, and railcar.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions on a site that operates 24 hours a day, seven (7) days a week.
  • Demonstrate initiative to work with others to foster a respectful workplace.
  • Able to accept new challenges and responsibilities as they arise.

Education & Experience

  • Training will be provided; Must be able to hold and maintain required certification.
  • Experience operating forklifts, genie lifts, etc is preferred.
