Job description


Position Summary

Our GFL Industrial Services team is seeking Field Labourers in Kitimat, BC. The successful candidates will join a team of highly trained individuals who provide supplemental support and expertise to various divisions. The Field Labourers will be required to assist with swamping and undertake various physical tasks to support the team. Additionally, the individuals must be versatile, be open to challenges and always display a positive attitude. 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Operator with the safe operation of the various units.

  • Assist the Operator with the set up and control hoses attached to the Vacuum units.

  • Install temporary equipment (including the installation of pipe, Hoses ect.).

  • Participate in job site preparation, including the rigging in/out of equipment.

  • Spot the safe positioning of equipment.

  • Ensure all equipment is cleaned and stored.

  • Execute general labor duties on job sites, which include but not limited to truck cleaning, equipment packing, preparation for demobilization, and debris removal from job sites.

  • Confined space entry to remove debris and perform detailed cleaning.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Valid Class 5 drivers’ license with an acceptable commercial driving abstract is required.

  • Ability to travel when required.

  • Flexibility of working after-hours for any call outs.

  • Previous experience working in various environments (i.e. confined space, heights, noisy and various and extreme weather conditions); Industrial pulp and paper and/or oil and gas experience is also an asset.

  • Swamping experience is an asset (i.e. Vacuum and Hydrovac work).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to work in all weather conditions for extended periods of time. 

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50lbs. 

  • Positive attitude and a strong sense of pride in your work.

  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service to GFL clients and customers.

  • Must be motivated, able to multi-task, and effectively collaborate in a team environment.

  • Willingness to take direction and work effectively in stressful situations.

  • Enthusiastic self-starter with a strong work ethic and proven track record for success.

  • Reliable team player that is supportive of co-workers.
