General Laborer / Shop Helper

Canton, OH | Full Time | $17 - 19/Hour | Night Shift: M-Th, 8 PM - 6 AM


We are a manufacturer of high-capacity truck, rail, floor, and bench scales for the weighing industry in Canton, Ohio.


Job Summary

The primary role of the General Labor/Shop Helper is to be a helping set of hands in the shop. These duties may include but are not limited to the following: cleaning and taking out trash in the shop, loading or unloading materials, and using a variety of tools and machines such as paint prep equipment, forklifts, lifts, power drills, grinders, saws, pressure washers, etc.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Moves material around plant using a forklift and/or overhead crane
  • Moves and stages material as scheduled for optimum efficiency
  • Load and unload trucks, as needed
  • Perform housekeeping duties in the plant, as required
  • Follow standard work procedures
  • Adhere to all safety standards
  • Assist assemblers, painters, and material processing
  • Use power tools and machinery when needed
  • Follow instructions from supervisors to perform manual labor tasks
  • Report issues with equipment or unsafe conditions

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Previous forklift and overhead crane experience
  • Bending, lifting, sitting, standing for an 8 to 10-hour day
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs
  • Familiarity with power tools
  • Communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work both in a group or independently as needed.
