Location: North Platte, Nebraska (Utility Transmission Construction)

Pay: $18.00 – $23.00 per hour (based on experience) + Per Diem / Travel Support for qualified candidates

About the Role

Rite Projects USA Inc. is looking for dependable, hard-working Welder Helpers / Fire Watch personnel to join our mobile field welding crews on a major utility transmission construction project in Nebraska. If you thrive in hands-on outdoor field environments, value a safety-first culture, and want consistent hours on a long-term project, this position is for you.

  • Position Type: Full-Time, Temporary Field Position (12-Month Duration)
  • Start Date: October 2026
  • Work Schedule: 21 days on / 7 days off rotation (Typically 6 days on / 1 day off during active rotation)
  • Shift: 12-hour days

Key Responsibilities

  • Fire Watch & Safety: Maintain active, dedicated fire watch during and after welding, cutting, grinding, and preheating activities. Monitor sparks, slag, and hot-work hazards, keeping fire-prevention equipment ready at all times.
  • Welding Support: Assist lead welders with leads, tools, consumables, equipment setup, fit-up, and preheat preparation.
  • Material & Tool Handling: Assist with cutting, grinding, cleaning, rigging, and manual material movement across field locations.
  • Site Operations: Maintain clean, organized, and safe work zones across mobile field setups.
  • Compliance: Complete required tailboards, hazard assessments, safety documentation, and strictly follow all approved hot-work procedures.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Must be physically capable of working 12-hour outdoor shifts and safely lifting, carrying, and moving heavy tools and materials.
  • Valid Driver’s License and willingness to travel between field locations.
  • High attention to detail and ability to remain vigilant during extended fire-watch periods.
  • Strong team player with a dedication to site safety and following instructions.
  • Must pass site access requirements, pre-employment drug/alcohol screenings, and prove U.S. work authorization.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience in fire watch, welder assisting, utility transmission, industrial construction, or field labor.
  • Familiarity with welding processes, grinding, cutting, or preheat operations.
  • Basic rigging and material-handling knowledge.
  • Active certifications: OSHA 10/30, First Aid/CPR, HazCom, or formal Fire Watch training.
