Craftsmen Contractors is hiring for an entry-level Structural Welder for a barge repair yard in the Vacherie, La. area. The job consists of performing overhead and vertical weld beads. This is a long-term position with an opportunity for advancement. The schedule is working day shifts Monday through Friday and occasional weekends/overtime. This position is good for someone who is just starting as a Welder and is ready to gain practical experience and knowledge. We need someone who has a willingness to learn, a strong work ethic, and a good understanding of welding. You will have to do some labor duties at certain times when needed.


Job pays $17 - $20/hour depending on experience and how you do on a weld test.

Weekly pay by direct deposit.


Job Duties:


  • Weld vertical and overhead beads.
  • Cut and join metal together.
  • Lift some heavy objects from time to time.
  • Cut metals into the appropriate shape.
  • Some general labor tasks including clean-up, washing dock, and moving materials.


Job Requirements:

  • Will have to pass a welding test - vertical, overhead, and flat.
  • Need to have basic welding hand tools and gear(welding hood and gloves), and the required PPE.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Read a tape measure.
  • Willing to assist with labor work when needed.
  • Some basic welding experience is preferred.
