Employment & Labor Associate Attorney
Palo Alto, CA

Direct Counsel is seeking an Employment & Labor Associate Attorney with 1–3 years of experience to join a highly regarded law firm’s Employment & Labor practice in Palo Alto.

About the Role:
This position offers a strong blend of employment counseling, employment litigation, and transactional employment support. The associate will work closely with partners and clients on day-to-day employment law issues while also advising on employment aspects of M&A transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing employment counseling to clients, including policy development and compliance guidance

  • Support employment aspects of M&A deals, including diligence and agreement review

  • Draft research memos, briefs, motions, and other litigation materials

  • Participate in discovery, investigations, and broader case strategy

  • Work collaboratively with a high-performing team in a fast-paced, sophisticated practice

Qualifications:

  • 1–3 years of broad employment law experience, including both counseling and litigation

  • Exceptional writing, communication, and analytical skills

  • Strong academic background from a nationally recognized law school

  • High initiative, professionalism, and a collaborative mindset

  • California Bar admission required

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary range: $225,000–$260,000, depending on experience and geographic location
