Responsibilities

Responsible for overall planning, quality improvement activities, and daily operations of Laboratory Specimen Services. Collaborates with others on operational, planning, fiscal, human resources and quality management issues to assure that administrative systems, techniques and procedures are appropriate for services. Maintains twenty-four-hour accountability for Laboratory Specimen Services.

Qualifications

 REQUIRED

  • B.S. degree in Medical Technology or Chemical, Physical, or Biological science, plus one (1) year experience as a phlebotomist in a hospital based clinical laboratory, ORB.S. or B.A. degree in Education, Business Administration, or other health related specialty, plus two (2) years' experience as a phlebotomist in a hospital based clinical laboratory, OR Two (2) year Associate Degree in a health-related specialty or Business Administration, plus three (3) years of experience as a phlebotomist in a hospital based clinical laboratory, OR Four (4) years of experience as a phlebotomist and laboratory data clerk in a hospital based clinical laboratory.
  • Three (3) years of phlebotomy leadership experience.

 PREFERRED

  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication, mathematical, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of information systems, software applications and telecommunication systems.
  • Demonstrate the ability to make decisions, solve problems, and promote laboratory services and organization to physicians and general public.
