Job description

NSB Omega is searching for a Research Lab IT Software Deployment & Support Specialist for our Oil & Gas Client in Bartlesville, OK.
Assignment Description
Working closely with laboratory personnel, IT teams, vendors, and application support groups, this individual helps ensure laboratory software, instrument connectivity, and data integrations continue to function effectively while maintaining clear documentation and support procedures. This role will play a key role in ensuring refinery laboratory systems remain reliable, supported, and operational. This position is responsible for deploying, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting specialized laboratory software that supports critical testing and refinery operations.
Role Objective
To ensure refinery laboratory software systems can be consistently deployed, maintained, supported, and recovered through effective technical support, standardized processes, quality documentation, and strong collaboration between laboratory and IT teams.
Key Responsibilities
Software Deployment & Configuration
• Install, configure, and support laboratory software on workstations and servers.
• Maintain software standards and deployment procedures for critical lab applications.
• Verify system requirements and dependencies before software installations or upgrades.
• Manage software versions, updates, licensing, and patching activities.
Instrument Connectivity & Application Support
• Configure software connectivity between laboratory instruments and supporting systems.
• Troubleshoot software, hardware, and communication issues impacting laboratory operations.
• Support system recovery efforts following hardware replacements, upgrades, or failures.
• Work with vendors and internal support teams to resolve application and integration issues.
Laboratory System Integration
• Support integrations between laboratory software platforms and refinery business systems such as LIMS and middleware solutions.
• Assist in troubleshooting data flow and result transfer issues.
• Coordinate with laboratory personnel and application support teams to maintain operational continuity.
Change Management & Validation
• Participate in software upgrades, migrations, and enhancement projects.
• Validate application functionality following installations, updates, or configuration changes.
• Ensure appropriate backup, recovery, and testing procedures are followed during system changes.
• Support efforts to minimize downtime and operational disruption.
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
• Create and maintain deployment guides, configuration standards, and support documentation.
• Develop repeatable procedures that enable consistent support and recovery of critical systems.
• Share knowledge with IT support personnel and designated laboratory users.
• Maintain accurate records of configurations, dependencies, and support processes.
Operational Support
• Serve as a technical resource for refinery laboratory software platforms.
• Participate in troubleshooting and incident response activities for critical laboratory systems.
• Support ongoing efforts to improve reliability, standardization, and support readiness across laboratory environments.
• Build strong working relationships with laboratories, vendors, and IT support teams.

• Understanding of Windows LTSC operating systems, software deployment, system administration, and troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting instrument-to-computer communications and software integrations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to create clear technical documentation and procedures.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills when working with technical and business teams.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in refinery, manufacturing, laboratory, or industrial environments.
• Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
• Experience supporting chromatography, analyzer, or scientific software platforms.
• Knowledge of software validation, change management, and disaster recovery processes.
