The Work Study - Assistant for Laboratory Services will support both teaching and research laboratories by restocking supplies, preparing reagents, and helping to maintain the laboratories' physical environment.
Education/Experience
Currently enrolled Stevenson University student in good standing with the University academically and judicially. Science major with laboratory experience preferred. 
Knowledge/Skills/Ability
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and internet searches
  • Willingness to learn new skills 
Physical Requirements
Medium work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Works in science laboratories and will be exposed to chemicals, biologicals, fumes/gases, chemical processes, magnetic field and scientific equipment/instrumentation.  Requires physical abilities consistent with a busy college environment on a campus with buildings and laboratories separated by some distance.  Position requires prolonged periods of sitting, standing and walking with occasional climbing, stooping, pulling and pushing.  Visual acuity requirements include daily work with computers, monitors, copy machines, and other office equipment is required.  
Essential Functions
  • Assist the Laboratory Services staff in the daily running of all Fine School of the Sciences laboratories 
  • Aid in the setup and breakdown of supplies, reagents, and equipment for laboratory courses and other lab-related activities
  • Maintain proper availability and organization of general supplies in lab spaces
  • Ensure all appropriate lab safety protocols and procedures are being followed
  • Serve as a resource for faculty, staff and students as needed.
