Job description

Medical Technologist – Hospital Laboratory (MT / MLS)

Bradenton, Florida · Full-Time, Permanent · Nights & Evenings (Rotating Weekends)

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We are partnering with a 383-bed acute care hospital in Bradenton, Florida — a nine-time "100 Top Hospital" and "100 Top Cardiovascular Hospital" recipient, located minutes from the Gulf Coast — to place an experienced Medical Technologist in their clinical laboratory. This facility is recognized for advanced technology, a strong quality program, and professional development investment across all departments.

This role requires a generalist MT capable of working independently across all major laboratory sections, including Blood Bank, Chemistry, and Hematology. Candidates comfortable as the sole tech on shift and covering the full lab footprint are strongly preferred.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Perform stat and routine clinical laboratory testing across technical discipline areas under the direction of laboratory supervision

- Maintain licensure, competency, and regulatory scheduling in Blood Bank, Chemistry, and Hematology

- Apply independent judgment and theoretical knowledge of laboratory medicine to ensure accurate, timely results

- Execute all duties in compliance with written procedures and applicable regulatory requirements

- Perform non-technical functions including specimen collection, processing, and referral testing as needed

- Support department goals across service, quality, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and patient satisfaction

- Contribute to intra- and inter-departmental integration and a healthy, collaborative work environment

REQUIREMENTS

- Florida State Medical Technologist license — required; licensure in all laboratory areas preferred, minimum 3 areas required

- ASCP certification (MT, MLS, or equivalent nationally recognized credential) — strongly preferred

- Associate's Degree in Medical Technology with formal MT training — required; Bachelor's Degree preferred

- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Medical Technologist in a hospital laboratory setting — preferred

- Blood Bank experience — preferred

- Must be able to work independently and cover all laboratory areas during shift

- Strong critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to perform with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment

COMPENSATION

Hourly rate: $22.39 – $31.34 (based on years of experience)

- Entry: $22.39/hr

- Mid: $26.86/hr

- Senior: $31.34/hr

Shift: Nights & Evenings — rotating weekends

HOW TO APPLY

Submit your resume, current Florida MT license, and ASCP certification documentation. Candidates with verified hospital laboratory experience will be contacted within 1–2 business days. We coordinate all credentialing documentation and work directly with the facility on your behalf.
