Job description

Your responsibilities
Position Overview:
The Laboratory Automation Specialist is responsible for supporting our customers in maintaining, troubleshooting, and commissioning laboratory automation equipment. This position works together with our Sales Team and supports technical quotation and project execution activities for driving growth in laboratory automation solutions across cement, minerals, and other industries. This person may assume full responsibility for the overall performance, profitability, and successful completion of smaller or less complex projects. This includes managing client relationships and ensuring adherence to customer contracts and company procedures. This individual will be a self-motivated professional with a desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each challenge.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Perform on-site measurements and inspections.
  • Ensure that Company safety policies, including all procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to at all times.
  • Analyze and interpret measurement data and inspection results. Prepare written reports for customer use that detail measurement and inspection results and provide the basis for parts and service recommendations.
  • Meet with customer representatives, such as engineers or plant managers, to discuss equipment condition and provide recommendations regarding replacement of parts, scheduled maintenance and/or repair needs.
  • Guide and advise others in performing equipment installation, commissioning, inspection, and maintenance efforts.
  • Troubleshoot and assist in repairing mechanical and process related problems with tkIS Polysius and competitors OEM equipment.
  • Perform client presentations and communicate clearly the core values of our products.
  • Assist Sales and Proposal team in the technical preparation of proposals
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with our customers by providing full on-site and remote service support
  • Produce deliverables as required to fulfill project needs as part of a team of automation engineering and instrumentation team. Project deliverables will include, but are not limited to:
    • PLC system specification.
    • Network diagram configuration and equipment specification.
    • I/O's List/equipment specification.
    • Elaborate all PLC and I/O cabinets' drawings for sub-supplier's quotation.
    • RFQ and RFP, etc.
    • PLC and HMI system programming and configuration specifications.
  • Leading project execution and defining scope and schedule, ensure compliance with contract scope
  • Managing project progress and adapt work priorities as required
  • Managing the project budget in coordination with the CPM
  • Conducting project review and creating detailed reports for executive management
  • Participate in meeting with sub-supplier to provide technical clarification.
  • Work with our global engineering and service teams to facilitate customer needs

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position will have no direct supervisory responsibilities but may be occasionally responsible for the day-to-day supervision of company repair crew employees for specific limited-duration projects.
Your profile
Required Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Engineering, Electrical, or Automation.
  • Minimum of 5 years in laboratory automation experience across the cement, minerals and other industries.
Required Knowledge & Skills:
  • Dedication to safe and environmentally compliant work.
  • Ability to respond quickly, decisively, and appropriately to equipment problems is particularly important.
  • Effectively communicate with clients, project teams, equipment suppliers and office support teams
  • Excellent level of verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Ability to convey technical information to audiences effectively.
  • Inherent ability to work effectively in a team environment and strong desire to be successful.
  • Organization and time management skills to succeed in a fast-paced environment, and impeccable follow up ability is crucial.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to quickly learn and use new software tools.
  • Ability to understand and explain complex technical concepts.
  • Able to read/ understand detailed technical drawings and parts lists
  • Must wear PPE (personal protective equipment) as appropriate
  • Strict adherence to MSHA regulations (training provided) required at jobsites
Preferred Qualifications:
  • POLAB Automation system experience.
  • Rockwell ControlLogix Configuration and Programming
  • SIEMENS PLC Configuration and Programming
  • Knowledge and use of SAP, AutoCAD and EPLAN Prior participation and experience in project execution, commissioning, and start up activities at customer sites.
  • Additional language skills are considered an asset
  • Experience in similar industry strongly preferred
Travel Demands:
  • Ability to travel frequently to customer sites. Flexibility to accommodate travel schedules and customer requirements. (Travel 70+%)
  • Valid Passport required.
  • Real ID Driver's License required.
  • Ability to travel and work overtime (including nights, weekends, and holidays along with working outdoors in all weather conditions).
