5. Position Summary

The Supervisor II, Laboratory (Hematology Lab) is responsible for supervision over multiple laboratory functions including oversight of hematology testing for the core lab, monitoring workflow from sample processing through departmental workflow to results reporting, and providing day-to-day guidance on teammate performance. This position evaluates and monitors compliance with service guarantees and specimen quality requirements while ensuring adherence to corporate standard policies and procedures related to job performance, customer interactions, teammate relations, and information confidentiality. As a licensed technical supervisor, this position may work a designated shift (day, evening, or night) and reports to the Manager, Laboratory.

6. Must-Haves
  • Minimum 6-8 years of experience as a Medical Technologist or in a supervisory laboratory role
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, biological sciences, or related field
  • Florida Supervisor's License in Hematology
  • Professional laboratory certification from an accredited certifying agency (ASCP, AMT, or equivalent)
7. Primary Functions

Leadership and Direction:

  • Provides overall direction, communication, and oversight to team members regarding departmental workflow and task assignments
  • Ensures teammate adherence to procedures and quality assurance requirements
  • Participates in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures
  • Serves as a resource for team training and competency program development
  • Monitors performance against established targets, goals, and metrics
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement within the department and across laboratory business lanes
