The successful candidate:
The Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of clinical laboratory operations at City of Hope Goodyear Hospital. This position supervises Medical Technologists, Laboratory Assistants, and support staff while ensuring the delivery of accurate, timely, and high-quality laboratory services. The supervisor oversees operations across multiple laboratory disciplines, including Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Molecular Diagnostics, Specimen Processing, and Reference Laboratory Send-Out Testing. The Laboratory Supervisor serves as a technical and operational resource for laboratory staff, promotes regulatory compliance, supports quality initiatives, and collaborates with laboratory leadership, medical directors, nursing, and other healthcare providers to ensure exceptional patient care.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related biological science.
  • Current ASCP certification as Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or equivalent certification.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of clinical laboratory experience in a hospital or acute care setting.
  • Minimum of two (3) years of progressive leadership, lead technologist, or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of clinical laboratory operations and regulatory requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a healthcare, laboratory, or business-related field.
  • Previous supervisory experience overseeing multiple laboratory disciplines.
  • Experience with hospital laboratory information systems (LIS) and Epic Beaker.
  • Experience supporting CAP, CLIA, AABB, and Joint Commission inspections.
