Job description

The Laboratory Technician is responsible for conducting a variety of tests on automotive lighting products to ensure they meet quality and performance standards. This role requires a strong understanding of laboratory procedures, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with engineers and other team members.

The Laboratory Technician is also responsible for setting up and operating the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), interpreting measurement data, and ensuring parts meet specified tolerances and quality standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

●       Perform tests on automotive lighting products, including photometric, electrical, and environmental tests.

●       Set up and operate laboratory equipment, machinery, and instruments.

●       Prepare detailed test reports and documentation, and assist in the development and implementation of new testing procedures.

●       Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure a clean and organized work environment.

●       Collaborate with engineers and other team members to troubleshoot and resolve issues, and adhere to safety protocols and regulations.

●       Operate and program Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to measure and inspect parts and components.

●       Interpret and analyze CMM data to ensure parts meet specified tolerances and quality standards.

●       Perform routine maintenance and calibration of CMM and other laboratory equipment.

●       Document and report test data and measurement results, identifying any deviations from specifications and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

●       Work closely with the quality assurance team to address measurement-related issues.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

●       Associate degree in a related field (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Applied Sciences) or equivalent experience.

●       5+ years of experience in a laboratory setting, with at least 3 years in the automotive industry.

●       Familiarity with laboratory equipment and testing procedures, and experience operating and programming CMM equipment.

●       Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles.

●       Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis software.

●       Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and computer, with occasional walking, standing, bending, or reaching in a lab/office environment.
