Job description

Overview
This is a 2nd shift role working Monday - Thursday 3pm - 1am.
The Quality Assurance Technician I handles inspection and testing of incoming components, raw materials, batches, and finished goods to support a 3-shift manufacturing facility. Under the supervision of the Quality Manager, the technician will conduct laboratory tests against specified requirements, provide input to manufacturing based on data analysis, and ensure thorough documentation of sample testing is complete. Technicians should have a demonstrated understanding of the test methods and ability to communicate results to production and quality leadership.
Responsibilities
This position is directly or indirectly responsible for the following pertaining to testing of consumable samples during shift:
  • Conducts testing using test procedures of varying complexity in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Performs limited data analysis against test standards and makes recommendations based on observed results.
  • Ensures systems, calibrations, and audits are completed and records maintained in an accurate, time-conscious manner.
  • Performs incoming inspection for components and raw materials to ensure materials conform to set specifications and maintains inspection records for reference.
  • Integrates understanding of scientific principles and methodology in a testing environment.
  • Stays objective in areas of conflicting departmental priority; able to maintain course given by direct line manager.
  • Effectively communicates findings to leadership and across shifts to ensure continuity of productive working environment.
  • Demonstrates practical knowledge in the scientific method, test development, data collection and analysis, and good laboratory practices.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and documentation/training of BISSELL test equipment, procedures, and standards. Has the ability to train other associates in lab functions and procedures as needed.
  • Effectively uses experience and technical knowledge for delivering creative solutions to internal laboratory processes and projects.
  • Proactively evaluates and recommends changes to the quality lab technical capabilities in response to the organization's shifting needs.
  • Actively engages in learning/developmental activities, enhancing personal knowledge, skill, and potential career growth.
  • Interacts with others in the lab and manufacturing environment in a productive and efficient manner.
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
  • Degree minimum: 2 year technical or equivalent prior experience
  • Specific concentration: Chemistry, Biology
  • Experience level: Entry Level

SPECIALIZED TRAINING OR SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Ability to interpret laboratory procedures and follow steps provided.
  • Experience in wet laboratory or chemical processing environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience with statistical process control and charting
  • Demonstrated ability to make data-based decisions quickly and effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multitask multiple job assignments.
  • Proficiency in the use of standard laboratory test equipment (pH probe, titration equipment, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel & Word. Laboratory Information Management System experience a plus.
  • ASQ Certification a plus
  • Ability to occasionally lift 50lbs and ability to work near production machinery, chemicals without incident.
