Position Overview
Provide on-site phlebotomy services in a clinical setting, supporting laboratory operations by collecting and processing blood and other specimens for diagnostic testing. This role involves direct patient interaction and adherence to strict safety and quality standards.Key Responsibilities
  • Perform venipuncture and collect blood/body fluid specimens
  • Properly label, process, and transport specimens
  • Accurately identify patients using established protocols
  • Document procedures in VA electronic systems (CPRS/VistA)
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions during collection
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of work areas
  • Follow infection control, HIPAA, and VA policies
  • Assist with specimen processing and lab support tasks
Qualifications
  • Minimum 6 months phlebotomy experience
  • Experience in a healthcare or clinical setting
  • Ability to work with diverse patient populations (including elderly and complex cases)
  • Bilingual: English and Spanish required
