Job description

We are seeking a Labor Relations Specialist for a leading healthcare services organization that partners with health plans, government agencies, and healthcare providers to coordinate non-emergency medical transportation and other healthcare solutions that help patients access the care they need. The Labor Relations Specialist supports the organization's labor strategy through administration of collective bargaining agreements, grievance management, disciplinary processes, hearings, and labor-management relations.


Responsibilities


Labor Relations Administration

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for labor relations matters involving represented employees.
  • Interpret collective bargaining agreements and provide guidance to leaders regarding contractual obligations.
  • Respond to labor relations inquiries concerning policies, procedures, work rules, and bargaining agreements.
  • Maintain positive labor-management relationships with union representatives.

Discipline & Hearings

  • Coordinate and administer disciplinary processes involving represented employees.
  • Prepare disciplinary documentation and supporting materials.
  • Review investigations and evidence to ensure disciplinary actions are consistent and contractually compliant.
  • Schedule, facilitate, and participate in disciplinary hearings and fact-finding meetings.
  • Advise leaders on progressive discipline and contract administration.

Grievance Management

  • Coordinate grievance administration from filing through final resolution.
  • Track grievance, hearing, and arbitration timelines to ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Prepare grievance responses and supporting documentation.
  • Assist in grievance investigations and evidence gathering.
  • Maintain grievance logs, status reports, and trend analysis.

Contract Administration & Documentation

  • Organize and maintain all collective bargaining agreements, side letters, arbitration decisions, settlements, and related labor documentation.
  • Prepare records and materials required for labor-management meetings, negotiations, and arbitrations.
  • Track information requests and ensure timely responses.
  • Coordinate meetings between union officials, employees, and management representatives.

Negotiations & Labor Strategy Support

  • Collect and analyze labor-related data including wages, benefits, attendance trends, and operational metrics.
  • Assist with preparation for collective bargaining negotiations.
  • Support labor costing, proposal analysis, and workforce impact assessments.
  • Conduct labor research and provide recommendations to HR and operational leadership.

Compliance

  • Maintain knowledge of labor laws, collective bargaining practices, arbitration trends, and labor relations best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements and applicable labor regulations.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • SHRM and/or labor relations certification preferred.
  • 3+ years of labor relations or HR experience.
  • 2+ years of direct experience supporting a unionized workforce.
  • Experience preparing grievances, disciplinary actions, hearings, and arbitration documentation.
  • Strong working knowledge of collective bargaining agreement administration.
