Job description

The Department of Pathology and Clinical Laboratories at Jamaica Hospital is a state-of-the-art, full-service laboratory that performs approximately 1.5 million tests annually to help detect, diagnose, and prevent disease. The department includes the clinical divisions of Anatomic Pathology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, and Phlebotomy.
W e are currently seeking an experienced Clinical Lab Technologist - Hematology for immediate perdiem night shift opportunity.
Our ideal candidate will have strong expertise across all areas of the Hematology laboratory and be adept in obtaining good reliable results during the operation of any chemistry analyzer. Must be able to rotate through different areas and workstations, following all quality control procedures.
DUTIES

  • Perform a variety of automated and manual tests and related duties to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease, following established procedures.
  • Assisting in the training, orientation, and development of Student Technologist Trainees.
  • Participating in proficiency testing.

  • Minimum five (5) years' experience as a Medical Technologist in Hematology, chemistry & special chemistry
  • Two years' experience in a hospital setting
  • Broad background in computerized instrumentation
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

  • Valid NYS Education Department Medical Technologist License
  • AACC, ASMT, OR ASCP OR Equivalent Certification (Desirable)
