Job description

Job Title: Medical Assistant
Location: Ave Suite, Annapolis, MD 21401
Job Type: Contract
Shift Timing: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST, Monday to Friday
Department: Clinical Operations
Reports To: Clinic Manager


Job Summary:

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Medical Assistant for a contract position in Annapolis, MD. The ideal candidate must be capable of working in a high-volume clinical environment and will play a critical role in managing walk-in patient flow, lab procedures, and documentation. This position requires excellent multitasking and time management skills, with the ability to adapt to new equipment and protocols quickly.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately record vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, etc.) for all patients
  • Perform blood draws (venipuncture) and ensure proper sample labeling and handling
  • Conduct EKGs and assist with preliminary diagnostic procedures
  • Carry out point-of-care lab testing and adhere to lab safety standards
  • Apply ICD-10 coding to generate accurate and complete lab requisitions
  • Maintain thorough lab documentation and patient recordkeeping in compliance with clinical policies
  • Act proactively in managing 100–120 patient walk-ins daily, ensuring efficient workflow and minimal wait times
  • Be flexible and eager to learn and operate new clinical equipment as needed
  • Provide seamless support to clinical staff and contribute to a collaborative, fast-paced team environment

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
  • CMA, RMA, or equivalent certification preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a busy clinical or lab setting
  • Experience handling high patient volumes and strong organizational skills
  • Familiarity with EHR systems, medical terminology, and HIPAA regulations
  • Excellent communication, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong commitment to patient care and ability to remain composed under pressure
