Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE

In close collaboration with the entire experienced laboratory team, the laboratory assistant supports the department in carrying out the various stages of the quality control process for aggregates and mixes.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Visual inspection of the reserves and loading surfaces. Inform the lab technician of any identified issues (segregation, contamination, lack of equipment, etc.).
  • Follow the sampling frequency indicated in the Quality Plan for quality monitoring in production and delivery.
  • Perform quality control of aggregates (particle size, LA, micro Deval, etc.) and asphalt mixes (bitumen extraction, particle size, mass density, etc.) according to current standards and procedures.
  • Record the results in the appropriate systems.
  • Notify the lab technician of any non-conformance.
  • Clean the laboratory at the end of each day and perform basic equipment maintenance.
  •   Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • CEGEP, DEC, or Attestation of Collegial Studies (AEC) (materials quality control, civil engineering, or equivalent).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office / G-Suite.

Additional Requirements:

  • Be concerned about the accuracy of the information collected.
  • Fluency in French (spoken and written).
  • Valid driver's license (class 5).
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
