Job description

Position Overview:

Clinical Lab Technologist processes medically relevant biological samples through DNA extraction and/or high-throughput next-generation DNA sequencing assays in a fast-paced laboratory setting to provide test results for patients, oncologists, and medical practitioners/researchers. Must adhere to applicable regulatory requirements.

Shifts (Possible):
  • AM: Friday-Tuesday 6:00am-2:30pm
  • PM: Friday-Monday 12:30pm-11:00pm
Responsibilities:
  • Perform DNA extractions, PCR amplification, and/or high-throughput sequencing on DNA libraries using standard methods.
  • Operate/maintain lab equipment (liquid handling robotics, DNA sequencers).
  • Complete assigned tasks accurately (sample processing, validations, reagent QC, special projects).
  • Levels I-III include increasing independence, guidance/training responsibilities, and procedure/process improvement.
  • Maintain compliance (GxP/FDA/ISO; GMP/GCP/GLP; "Testing Personnel" for high complexity per 42CFR493.1495), record nonconformances, and use LIMS; keep detailed records.
Required:
  • Molecular biology skills (DNA extraction/purification, PCR, qPCR, NGS) and related technical knowledge.
  • Experience with human specimens and biohazardous materials.
  • Strong communication/collaboration.
  • Level I: Bachelor's+ in medical/lab science OR related bachelor's+ chemical/biological science plus 6 months high-complexity molecular experience/training.
  • Level II: Bachelor's+ + 1 year high-complexity clinical lab training/experience + 3 years molecular experience + Master's+ (minimum 2 years).
  • Level III: Bachelor's+ + 3 years high-complexity clinical lab training/experience + 5 years molecular experience + Master's+ (minimum 3 years) + lab automation/best practices.
Preferred:
  • ASCP(MB) certification; clinical high-throughput experience; LIMS experience; automation best practices; Adaptive sample prep/PCR/sequencing experience.
