Job description

St. Mary's Medical Center is seeking a full time Outpatient Tech Assistant in our Outpatient Lab. The Outpatient Tech Assistant, under the supervision of the Administrative Director, Laboratory Services, Department Supervisor or authorized designee, and pursuant to federal regulations, clinical oversight by the Medical Director or appointed Pathologist, performs a variety of duties. These include but are not limited to all types of phlebotomy, routine clerical functions, greeting patients/visitors, performing computer entry of physician orders, data entry and retrieval of patient's results and messages, performance of EKGs, therapeutic phlebotomy of the laboratory work flow..
EDUCATION:
Graduate of Medical Assistant School, Business/Vocational, Medical Secretarial and courses in Phlebotomy preferred. ASPT or equivalent certification is required.
EXPERIENCE:
Phlebotomy experience and office experience required. Background in customer service preferred.
SKILLS:
Phlebotomy, keyboard experience, and ability to file and retrieve data. Ability to operate all office machines in assigned area. Strong communication skills, customer service oriented. BCLS and EKG certification required and must be maintained during employment.
