POSITION SUMMARY
  • Reports To:
    • Director of Radiology
  • Summary:
    • Take x-rays and Computerized Axial Tomography (CAT or CT) scans or administer nonradioactive materials into the patient's blood stream for diagnostic purposes. Includes technologists who specialize in other modalities, such as computed tomography, ultrasound, and magnetic resonance.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Education
    • Associate's Degree (two-year college or technical school)
  • Experience
    • Two to four years of related experience
  • Computer Skills
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, email and basic computer skills for other software used throughout the hospital for your area of responsibility.
  • Certificates & Licenses
    • Registered in Radiology by the ARRT. BLS Certification required.
  • Other Requirements
    • CT Tech training completed. This position requires constant standing and walking.
  • Essential Functions
    • Performs computerize axial tomography and other radiologic procedures in accordance with established professional and departmental standards, procedures, and protocols.
    • Reviews consultation request, checking for special instructions from requesting physician and consults with Radiologist as necessary. Obtains patient history and clinical data for correlation with the radiographic exam.
    • Pleasantly greets patient, confirming their identification and introducing yourself. Completely explains the examination procedure to the patient and their family if present.
    • Administers IV or oral contrast per standards and protocol, obtaining medicine reconciliation lists and consents when needed. Evaluates lab values, as needed, prior to the administration of contrast materials.
    • Demonstrates a complete working knowledge of all equipment located within the radiographic rooms and CT area.
    • Assist the Radiologist with CT or X-ray guided biopsies/drainages/ catheters insertions. Verifies that patient had consented to the procedure.
    • Maintains supplies in X-ray and CT area. Restocks as needed, notifies when special items need to be reordered. Troubleshoots equipment problems and reports malfunctions to the director/supervisor.
    • Schedules patient's exams. Has a complete understanding of CPSI/ RadWeb/PACS functions and processes and how they interface with one another.
