Location: Kent Campus Hospital
Status: Full Time 72 Hours
Shift: Variable
SALARY RANGE: 35.31 - 54.73HOURLY
General Summary:
Performs diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations, diagnostic and interventional peripheral procedures. Assists the physician in placing catheters into the coronary arteries, and peripheral arteries and veins so that X-rays, angiograms and other recordings can be taken to determine the vascular structure and function of the coronary and peripheral vessels. All Cardiac Cath Technologists must successfully complete a four-month onboarding fellowship to include clinical rotation within the Cath Lab along with weekly 1-hour didactic sessions. These didactic sessions will complement clinical experience in a synchronous way.
Responsibilities:
1. The Technologist will assist in preparing the patient for the procedure as well as assist the RN in the set up and preparation of rooms, prior to beginning procedures, to provide for safe, efficient delivery of care. The Technologist will assure that proper documentation/consent is present in the chart prior to the procedure start time.
2. The Technologist will demonstrate the ability to obtain hemostasis safely after a procedure.
3. The Technologist demonstrates the ability to utilize the x-ray equipment accurately and independently
4. The Technologist is responsible for radiation safety compliance during procedures
5. The Technologist will demonstrate the ability to accurately monitor and document all procedures performed in the Cath Lab in the MacLab system.
6. The Technologist will assist Cath Lab team with procedure room turnover after every procedure following Infection Control protocol.
7. The Technologist enhances professional growth and development through participation in education, workshops, in-services, and current literature. Maintains required certifications and completes yearly unit and hospital mandatory's prior to performance evaluation. Seeks specialty certification (RCIS).
8. Administers Intra Coronary Medication per Bayhealth and Unit's policies.
9. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:
  • Education: Associate Degree
    ; Radiologic Sciences
    ; Or Associates Degree/graduate from accredited program in Cardiovascular Technology.
  • Credential(s): Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist
    Registered Technologist, Radiography
    Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
    Medical Radiologic Technologist
    Basic Life Support -Within 90 days, if not already obtained.
    ; If graduate from a Cardiovascular Technology program: RCIS is required.
    If graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program: ARRT (RT) is required.
    Within 4 months of hire, if not already obtained
  • Experience:
Required: Eighteen (18) months experience of diagnostic radiology. OR Completion of accredited radiologic technology or Cardiovascular Technology program and letter of recommendation from Program Director and Clinical Site Preceptor from the graduating school.
Preferred: Two (2) years' experience within the Cardiac Cath Lab, performing cardiac diagnostic, interventional, and electrophysiological procedures. Previous electrophysiology lab, or interventional lab experience.

    Or Bachelor's Degree/graduate from accredited program in Cardiovascular Technology.
