Job Title: Phlebotomist II

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist II to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for greeting patients, performing blood draws, labeling and processing specimens, and updating patient information. You will ensure specimens are collected and stored according to established procedures and explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients as they arrive in the lab and perform blood draws.
  • Label specimens accurately and centrifuge them as necessary.
  • Record maintenance data and perform decontamination tasks.
  • Update patient information and ensure compliance with OSHA and DEP regulations.
  • Explain venipuncture and specimen collection processes to patients.
  • Demonstrate blood drawing techniques using straight and butterfly needles.
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and ensure accuracy.
  • Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.
  • Handle insurance and billing processes, and prepare the site for procedures.
  • Provide excellent customer service and handle telephone inquiries.
