Job Title: Phlebotomist II
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist II to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for greeting patients, performing blood draws, labeling and processing specimens, and updating patient information. You will ensure specimens are collected and stored according to established procedures and explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients as they arrive in the lab and perform blood draws.
- Label specimens accurately and centrifuge them as necessary.
- Record maintenance data and perform decontamination tasks.
- Update patient information and ensure compliance with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Explain venipuncture and specimen collection processes to patients.
- Demonstrate blood drawing techniques using straight and butterfly needles.
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and ensure accuracy.
- Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.
- Handle insurance and billing processes, and prepare the site for procedures.
- Provide excellent customer service and handle telephone inquiries.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in blood drawing and phlebotomy techniques.
- Experience with venipuncture using straight and butterfly needles.
- Knowledge of laboratory and specimen processing procedures.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Understanding of OSHA and DEP regulations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1+ year of phlebotomy/venipuncture experience in a lab or hospital setting.
- Previous customer service experience in any setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to take feedback well and eagerness to learn.
- Positive, hardworking, and team-oriented personality.
- Proven reliability and positive attendance record.
Work Environment
The schedule is Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. The work environment is dynamic, with opportunities for growth and movement into different departments. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Portland, OR.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.11/hr.
