Responsibilities
Draw quality blood samples from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations, following established procedures to ensure safety and accuracy.
Prepare collected specimens for laboratory testing, verifying patient demographic information and proper labeling to maintain specimen integrity.
Maintain clear documentation and accurate records of collections and specimen handling.
Establish trust and a professional environment with patients by explaining procedures and addressing their concerns with sensitivity and care.
Ensure a safe, clean, and compliant environment in accordance with safety policies and procedures.
Perform specimen processing and verification tasks efficiently in high-volume, fast-paced settings.
Travel to multiple locations as needed, including patient service centers and in-office phlebotomy locations, often with minimal notice.
Required Skills
Excellent venipuncture skills, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
Ability to perform accurate, error-free work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for specimen handling and documentation.
Effective communication skills to provide exceptional customer service and patient education.
Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Keyboard and data entry proficiency for accurate record keeping.
Additional Skills & Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
Phlebotomy certification preferred and required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Minimum of 5 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collection expertise.
1-3 years of experience working in a clinical or patient service center setting preferred.
Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime to meet staffing needs.
Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record, if applicable.
Experience with keyboard/data entry and handling multiple priorities in high-volume environments.
