Summary
As a Laboratory Technician, you will play an important role in maintaining product quality and compliance by performing testing on incoming materials and finished product components. Your work will help ensure adherence to applicable industry standards and specifications while supporting safe and efficient laboratory operations.
Responsibilities
  • Perform laboratory testing in accordance with UL, CSA, ASTM, IEE, ICEA, and other applicable industry standards as directed.
  • Ensure compliance with testing requirements and established procedures.
  • Prepare samples, maintain accurate records, and store samples appropriately.
  • Support laboratory activities on the production floor as directed.
  • Carry out all work activities with a strong focus on safety.
  • Communicate with receiving, scheduling, production, and purchasing departments regarding testing requirements, material deliveries, production needs, and compound-related issues.

Qualifications
Required
  • High school diploma.
  • 1 to 3 years of related experience.
  • Must pass an internal math assessment.
  • Proficient computer skills, particularly with Microsoft products.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret testing procedures and specifications.
  • Physical capability to perform laboratory testing activities involving lifting, pulling, cutting, and dissecting cable materials.
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.

Preferred
  • 3 to 5 years of related experience.
  • Experience in wire and cable manufacturing.
  • Experience operating laboratory equipment and interpreting test results, including lab mills, mixers, tensile testers, MDRs, and Mooney viscometers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
