Job description

Work Locations: Fayetteville VA Medical Center (Fayetteville, NC) and Wilmington VA Health Care Center (Wilmington, NC)

Position Overview

I-2-I Solutions is seeking dependable part-time technicians to support dental unit waterline sampling services at Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) healthcare facilities.

This position involves collecting water samples from dental units in accordance with CDC guidance and VA contract requirements. Sampling activities are performed monthly at VA dental clinics located in Fayetteville and Wilmington, North Carolina. Technicians may also be required to conduct follow-up sampling when bacterial results exceed established limits.

Individuals with experience in healthcare environments, dental clinics, sterile processing departments (SPS), laboratory specimen collection, infection prevention, environmental sampling, or water sampling are encouraged to apply.

All work is performed during standard business hours at VA medical facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect water samples from dental unit waterlines.
  • Perform sampling across multiple dental operatories.
  • Collect approximately 45 samples each month at the Fayetteville VA Medical Center.
  • Collect approximately 30 samples each month at the Wilmington VA Health Care Center.
  • Follow sterile sampling procedures and techniques.
  • Complete all required field records and documentation.
  • Package and prepare samples for shipment to the designated laboratory.
  • Coordinate sampling activities with VA dental clinic staff.
  • Maintain sampling equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Follow infection prevention and safety requirements at all times.
  • Preserve sample integrity and maintain chain-of-custody records.
  • Conduct resampling and follow-up testing as required.
  • Be available to perform retesting within 24 hours of notification, or on the next business day, when requested by the VA.

  • Availability to support urgent retesting requests when needed.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain access credentials for Department of Veterans Affairs facilities.
  • Ability to comply with all VA identification, security, and facility access requirements.
