Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Completion of Quality Assurance and Quality Control on-site testing services.
  • Field coverage includes conducting compaction testing during site grading and backfilling operations, including sampling soil and aggregates for laboratory analysis.
  • Conducting field concrete and asphalt sampling and testing for various building, road and infrastructure projects.
  • Assist with coordination efforts and supporting field staff with investigative works including concrete coring, specialized testing, test pit investigations, geotechnical drilling, and site data collection.
  • Testing of soil, aggregate, and/or concrete samples (building materials) in the laboratory to determine engineering properties.
  • Laboratory testing procedures could include standard Proctor testing, Atterberg limit testing, grain size analysis, determination of moisture content, compressive strength testing of concrete cylinders

What you will bring to the Team

  • Diploma in Civil, Geotechnical, or related Engineering Technology college program. Other relevant education and industry work experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Registration with OACETT for C.Tech or C.E.T. designations is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service communication skills.
  • The capacity and willingness to learn new skills and testing procedures.
  • Access to a personal vehicle and possess a valid driver's license to carry out site inspections.

Expectations:

  • Competent with the use of Microsoft Office suite, particularly MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Ability to lift and carry 23.7 kg (50 lbs.)
  • Willingness to work a regular 40-hour work week and possible overtime up to a limit of 13 hours total per day.
  • Willingness to travel up to 200 km per day using personal vehicle.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Compensation:

  • Hourly compensation at market rates.
  • Reimbursement per kilometre for the use of your personal vehicle at rates adhering to schedule by the Canadian Revenue Agency.
