Description:
The Cath Lab Manager is a designated leader accountable for the effective and efficient running of the Cath Lab.
This position assumes responsibility for patient throughput, staff performance, and all components affecting Cath Lab flow and capacity.
The manager will be responsible for Cath Lab utilization, first case starts, room turnover, patient safety, compliance with policies and procedures, quality and performance improvement measures, and risk management.
Essential Job Functions:
Develops schedules and daily team member assignments and responsibilities.
Collaborates in the daily operations of the catheterization lab.
Supervises efficient patient flow in procedural areas.
Identifies shift problems; investigates and responds appropriately to situations.
Develops and maintains processes to support Cath Lab utilization.
Implements measures to improve efficiency of procedural process and patient flow.
Monitors compliance with internal and external regulatory standards, including Joint Commission and state codes.
Ensures legal compliance related to risk management and patient rights.
Creates and monitors unit-based indicators integrating education, performance appraisal, concurrent monitoring, and risk management.
Executes outcomes-based practice and directs staff in its application.
Schedule Notes:
No weekends, no holidays, and no on-call requirements.
Critical care experience in clinical cardiology, interventional radiology, perioperative, or related fields for at least 3 years is required.
Current endovascular/cardiac catheterization experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
Candidates must handle specific cases/procedures such as:
Right heart catheterization, Left heart catheterization, Permanent Pacemakers, PCI, Loop Recorders, Peripheral procedures, TEEs, Permacath insertions, Fistulograms, Venograms, Port insertions, IVC filters, TCAR, EKOS, and EVAR.
Skills:
Moderate computer skills are required.
Strong leadership skills are essential.
Knowledge of team management practices, nursing principles, practices, and techniques is expected.
Familiarity with supervisory principles, state laws, and regulations governing professional nursing practices is necessary.
Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must.
Skill in maintaining effective working relationships is required.
