Job description

Service Center Metals is currently hiring a meticulous Quality Laboratory Technician who will report to the Lab Supervisor at Prince George plant. This position will collect, prepare, and analyze extrusion mechanical property samples to ensure proper chemistry and quality.

Must haves:

  • Be dependable and accountable to work with team members.
  • Must be detail oriented, meticulous, and cautious.

  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • The ability to work a 12-hour rotating shift including days, nights, and two weekends a month.

Job Duties:

  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean orderly work areas.
  • Completes pre-check equipment inspections.
  • Actively participates in performing safety observations on fellow Team Members and using behavior-based safety methodology to continuously improve their own safe work habits.
  • Scan, Prep and Operate aging ovens per alloy-temper requirements.
  • Cut, machine and test mechanical property samples in accordance with ASTM traceability requirements.
  • Use of vertical band saw, CNC mill, lathe and drill press.
  • Dump tested mechanical property tests once completed.
  • Assure that non-conforming product is properly placed into quarantine.
  • Review and release orders to the next step in the process.
  • Assist in dock audits and process audits
  • Prepare daily shift reports for quality and operations personnel.
