Job description

Direct Patient Care - Massachusetts

Board-certified or Board-eligible Family Physician to join a unique and thriving Direct Patient Care (DPC) practice in Westport, Massachusetts.

The practice has two full-time physicians and supporting medical and clerical staff, caring for patients from age 6 to the end of life. Hospital care is provided by the dedicated Company Hospital Medicine team.

This is a traditional allopathic family medicine practice that encompasses both preventive care and treatment of acute and chronic illness. There is an emphasis on nutrition and lifestyle, attending to the mind-body interface, and the importance of movement and meditative practice in maintaining good health. Implicit is the recognition that there are many forms of healing and the patient is the primary decision-maker, partnering with medical and clerical advocates. Each patient is treated as an individual, with adequate time and attention.

This DPC practice model is unique in the Company organization. It is "Direct Patient Care" because the physicians are accountable to the patient only. The physicians do not participate with third-party payors, and are free of health insurance mandates and oversight; all financial support comes from monthly membership fees paid directly by patients to the practice. The company provides infrastructure and ancillary services support, including lab and imaging, as well as an extensive network of primary and specialty care.

It is possible to practice medicine the way you have always imagined! Comprehensive and personal care with limited panel size enhanced patient access, and onsite allied practitioners of muscular therapy and Reiki, Alexander Technique, and psychotherapy, as well as a large practice studio for dance, Tai Chi, Yoga, and other meditative practice. Excellent complementary and integrative practices are available in the community, including acupuncture, chiropractic, and herbal medicine. The successful physician will be able to partner well with all elements of the practice and practice community.

The company, based in Fall River, is a 120-physician multispecialty group in southeastern Massachusetts. The company is physician-owned and managed, with a strong primary care base and an array of specialists, sharing the same electronic medical record system with internal IT support. We have absolute respect for individual practice styles while insisting on, and providing support for, the highest quality of personalized care throughout the group. Practice logistics, including Human Resources, billing, and collections are centralized within the Company. Lab, imaging, specialty, and inpatient care are separately billed to and covered by DPC patients' health insurance companies.

Salary is competitive, and medical/dental coverage, a retirement plan, a CME allowance, and moving expenses are provided. An opportunity for partnership in Company exists with minimal buy-in.

Westport is a lovely and historic town with an environment that includes farms, extensive conservation trails, and Horseneck Beach, with Providence only 30 minutes, Boston only 1 hour, and Cape Cod less than an hour away. It is fast becoming a center for coastal competitive rowing excellence.
