Medical Courier
Department: Client Services
Reports To: Client Services Director
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Location: Dallas, TX
Position Summary
The Medical Courier is responsible for the safe, timely, and accurate transportation of medical specimens, laboratory supplies, reports, and related materials between healthcare facilities, client locations, and laboratory operations. This role ensures compliance with all company policies, client requirements, and applicable regulatory standards while providing excellent customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Pick up and deliver medical specimens, laboratory samples, supplies, and related materials according to established routes and schedules.
  • Ensure proper handling, packaging, labeling, and transport of specimens to maintain specimen integrity.
  • Verify chain-of-custody documentation and obtain required signatures and delivery confirmations.
  • Maintain accurate transportation logs, manifests, mileage records, and delivery documentation.
  • Follow all applicable HIPAA, OSHA, DOT, and company safety guidelines.
  • Communicate delays, route issues, specimen concerns, or customer service issues to management promptly.
  • Perform routine vehicle inspections and report maintenance concerns.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional vehicle appearance.
  • Assist with special deliveries, stat pickups, and emergency transportation requests as needed.
  • Represent the company professionally when interacting with clients, patients, and healthcare personnel.
  • Utilize company-issued technology, including mobile devices, GPS systems, and route-tracking applications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid Texas driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • At least 1 year of driving, delivery, courier, or transportation experience preferred.
  • Ability to pass a background check and motor vehicle record review.
  • Basic computer and mobile device proficiency.
