Job description

Urban Engineers is seeking a Business Data Analyst to support the management, analysis, and reporting of project data and performance indicators for capital projects within the transit industry. This role is responsible for maintaining project management data, developing meaningful insights, and tracking key metrics to monitor project activities, progress, and outcomes.
Duties include:
  • Develop and upgrade reports that centralize budget, expenditures, and schedule data.
  • Develop ad-hoc reports and analysis based on multiple stakeholders' requests.
  • Perform quality control over published reports.
  • Support Capital Delivery developing cash flows, expenditure plans and schedule using multiple data sources.
  • Apply Project Management best practices that support project plan validation (schedule consistency, availability of funds, procurement control, etc.).
  • Provide solutions for performance indicators, intuitive and interactive display of complex data, and bridge data analysis and business requirements.

  • Bachelor Degree with major coursework in finance or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of accounting systems and financial control for large organizations.
  • Minimum of 10 years relevant accounting, budget and/or financial controls experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
  • Stack:
    • Power BI / DAX
    • SQL Server (T-SQL)
    • Advanced user of MS Excel

Additional Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience with transit Capital Projects
  • Understanding of accounting and financial industry best practices
  • Python for data analysis (e.g.: Pandas, Matplotlib, Jupyter Lab)
  • SharePoint user management
